Gmundner Keramik, Austria’s longest-established lace manufacturer, has been writing a new chapter in its history since Monday. The company’s owner, Markus Friesacher, signed a cooperation agreement at the historic firm with Kevin Scott, founder of Behind the Tech Labs (BTTL).
The creative partnership focuses on three key areas. Firstly, it centres on technical innovation through digitalisation at the site itself, energy efficiency and quality assurance supported by artificial intelligence. As a mentor and knowledge broker, Kevin Scott is particularly committed to education and the promotion of young talent, for example through collaborations with technical colleges, degree theses and ‘Tech Days’, as well as art and cultural projects. A joint project with female artists was also presented.
As one of America’s most innovative tech minds, BTTL founder Kevin Scott brings not only his AI expertise but also his experience and passion for preserving Austria’s traditional crafts to this visionary collaboration, having his own pottery studio. At the same time, he acts as a mentor in the promotion of young talent, aiming to inspire young people with the diversity of ceramic art.
