To mark the 75th anniversary of the von Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont, Gmundner Keramik and the von Trapp Family joined forces in 2025 to create the exclusive “Edelweiss Collection”.
The edelweiss was deliberately chosen as the shared motif, as it connects the Austrian Alps with the Green Mountains of Vermont – two places that represent home to the von Trapp family. The special edition comprises a handcrafted cup and matching bowl, traditionally produced and hand-painted at the Gmundner Keramik manufactory.
Just as in 2025, Kristina von Trapp, granddaughter of Maria von Trapp, author of the book that inspired The Sound of Music, was once again able to experience the manufactory in person during her visit in September 2026 and gain an insight into the meticulous craftsmanship behind each piece.
The collaboration stands for the connection between Austria and Vermont, as well as an appreciation of authentic craftsmanship, living tradition and warm hospitality.

The von Trapp family became world-famous through their story, which later became famous in the classic musical and film "The Sound of Music". Originally from Austria, the von Trapp family was a musical family. The family members performed successfully as a singing group and toured throughout Europe.
Before the Second World War, the Trapps fled from Austria to the USA due to the political situation. There they founded the von Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont, which is now a popular tourist destination.
